Please enjoy, in her own words, Catina’s thoughtful overture on Sound Therapy.

As we look back in time, the more aware we are of the powers within the heart of all music and all sound. Sound healing is based on the recognition that we are all energetic beings with both individual and composite frequencies.  When our frequencies become dissonant, we are no longer living in coherence.  Through sound healing, we are able to bring the body back into harmony and back into coherence. Chaos and dissonance occur physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually. With sound healing instruments and the human voice, we can create a stable, harmonious, and coherent being bringing health, peace, and joy. “We are on the threshold of a new world where the understanding of sound and vibration is about to transform our entire medical system, our educational system, and provide access to higher states of awareness for the masses.” David Gibson.

Throughout my career as a musician, yoga teacher, yoga therapist, sound healer, and student, I have always known that my body, mind, and spirit were aligned with vibration and sound.  Growing up, I took lessons, purchased instruments, joined choirs and orchestras, sang karaoke, and danced as much as possible to experience the joy and healing music could bring. As a music major in college (undergraduate and graduate school), I learned about the science and history of sound.  As I began my Yoga Teacher journey, I always connected my practice to music and vibration, because for me there wasn’t any other way. The deeper I dove down the path of Yoga Therapy, the more I began to understand the why behind the healing power of sound and vibration.  What my physical and subtle body already knew intuitively; my brain was finally starting to catch up with. It is not meant as a medical substitute, but rather as a complementary method of discovery and healing. Tat Tvan Asi “You are that.”  Your consciousness and the Universal Consciousness are one and the same.
